With the sudden onset of wintry weather, it's time to break out those sweaters and stockings. But if your favorite winter-wear is looking a bit threadbare, you don't necessarily have to wear down your credit card to replace it. As long as you aren't married to idea of having the most current designer labels, then the Irving Thrift Store is an ideal source of cozy, cheap clothing.
Even if you are a fan of current fashion, at Irving Thrift you can find names like Banana Republic and Old Navy for rarely over a few dollars. For the fellows, the blazer section doesn't sacrifice quality despite its quantity. Just be careful to avoid the red-checked smoking jacket among the myriad of the other, nicer-looking jackets. For the ladies, the large dress collection might hold that perfect little black dress that complements any sweater or pair of shoes.
Frequent 50% off sales are helpful to the average college budget. The clothes are in good repair, even though you may have to do a bit of digging. But digging may just afford you a high quality winter coat for under $20. Or even a 100% cashmere turtleneck for under $5. The proximity to campus, extremely reasonable prices, and the added element of a treasure hunt, make the shopping experience at Irving Thrift Store completely worth it.
Irving Thrift Store is located on Irving Blvd, near Oak Grove Memorial Park Cemetery.
