Our Looming Enemy: An Expose

Issue date: 2/14/07 Section: Commentary
Before the escalating conditions between the U.S. and Iran reach a height where we resort to military action, a height where the cries of ìNot another Iraq!î will be heard from every media outpost and Democrat politician, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about our greatest enemy.
Iran is a behemoth in the Middle East, with its visible hand overshadowing the regionís politics and its hidden one working the networks of extremist terrorist groups.
Its leader, Ahmadinejad, is a veritable wolf in sheepís clothing, covering his sly ruthlessness with a perpetually smiling visage. He is more terrifying on the world scale, though not as volatile, as the late Saddam Hussein, and has more power and resources than bin Laden. With his genius (top .03% of all Iranian college applicants in his day) and rhetoric, he has been able to cover up his hardliner tendencies in verbal generalities and convoluted lies. He rarely lets his words reflect his deeds, thus appearing diplomatic and peaceful while his nation steams towards regional domination and nuclear armament.
Since 2005 when he took office, Ahmadinejad has toyed with the UN and continued unwaveringly with his nuclear plan. The UN has made a couple of symbolic sanctions, but no one has put pressure on Iran. Recently, Iran even banned UN inspectors from entering the country: still only light pressure from the UN. And then you have Iranís hand in Iraq.
Recent intel shows that Iran is financially backing both Shiíites and their sectarian enemy Sunnis! Iran knows how to win in the region and they are doing it. They know that victory in conventional war against the U.S. is impossible, so they are attacking us psychologically. On Ahmadinejadís personal blog he has a letter to the American people where he calls us ìnobleî and praises us for voting into office Democrats and for being against the Bush administration. Iran is hitting the U.S. at its weakest point ñ the media-indoctrinated public ñ while attacking our troops abroad. Explosives found in Iraq this week had Iranian serial numbers on them, and numerous Iranian operatives have been captured in Iraq. We need to wake up to this looming danger, and see through Ahmadinejadís ìIran is not seeking confrontation with anyoneî lie.
Iraq is the tip of the iceberg, Iran is the visible bulk, and the underlying Islamic extremist doctrine is the country-sinking foundation of this massive worldwide problem. Iran is not another Iraq; Ahmadinejad is a tougher foe than Saddam ever was. And the war protestors have something right, we do need another course. We need unity in America and between all of the free world to defeat extremist Islam. I know how to get the anti-war people involvedÖIran tortures detainees! The feminists: women there canít go to sports stadiums! Every pre-teen in America: Iran blocks YouTube!
