Spring Formal 2007 was distinct from past years. It was held on the second floor of the Union Tower. There was no live music, but there was a live DJ, Dallas renowned Brandon Olds. University News A & E editors were lucky enough to receive an unplanned interview with Mr. Olds. The interview began with the chant "One more song, one more song." Brandon was not up for the challenge, but he honored us with an impromptu dialogue:
UN: If you could play one more song, what would it be?
DJ BO: Well, I like a lot of songs.
UN: But if you had to play one more song what would it be? What is your favorite song?
DJ BO: Well, I like the song I ended with, Let's Get it On by Marvin Gay.
UN: But what is your favorite song that you didn't play tonight?
DJ BO: Uh…
UN: Come on. If it was just you and your girl out on the dance floor, what would you play?
DJ BO: I don't have a girl.
UN: Well any song then, what would you play?
DJ BO: I like Juanes, especially A Dios Le Pido.
UN: What did you think of the crowd tonight?
DJ BO: It was fun. Catholics drink a lot.
UN: What makes a good DJ?
DJ BO: You just gotta love the music. It doesn't really matter if the crowd it sh***y. If you love the music, you're golden.
Everyone seemed to be having fun, but there were mixed reviews about the DJ created music. Christopher Brown thoroughly enjoyed himself, but would have preferred a live band. "There is a certain charm in live music," he stated. It was easier to attend this year's Spring Formal without a date. The dance floor was large, there was a pleasant balcony, free food (enjoyed mostly by Brandon Kenney and a larger crowd than last year.
