This year's Bond themed Charity Week started out with a bang on Monday night with one of the most popular events of the week. Air Band allows UD students to show off their lack of musical talent by imitating their favorite bands, or mocking the more ridiculous ones.

Despite the growing number of UD students this year, there were a surprisingly small number of acts in Monday night's show, which was all the more reason for the "lip-synchers" and air guitarists to go all out.

The show kicked off with a guitar solo by one of the m. of ceremonies, which was followed by Steve Bird and Cindy Parks showing their affection for one another through a song from the musical "Grease." This more romantic piece was followed by the comical performance of "Dreamer" sung by Daniel Roberts with Bill Farris on guitar. The senior girls then showed their nerdy side with the Urkel Dance. Later, the Madhouse Madominators, the only band with an air drummer, riled up the crowd with their version of "I Believe in a Thing Called Love." Unfortunately, Loekadia Rucinski and Maria Ruff-Berganza's reproduction of "Tom's Diner" was interrupted by some technical difficulties, but that did not stop the girls from finishing up with an unexpected dance. A few of the upperclassman spiced things up with their "Pakistani Dance Routine." Unlike the other performances, there were few lyrics to this tune, but the dancers' fluid motions spoke a thousand words. Earlier in the show, Mike Grosso, Cody Wright, Dan Pepin and Nick Polsinelli wowed the audience with the dance OK Go's "A Million Ways" music video. Though Cody was the focus on lead vocals, it was difficult not to become mesmerized by the group's unique choreography. The final act of the evening came straight out the grave with Michael Jackson's "Thriller." These performers sent a chill down my spine with their extremely convincing costumes and makeup.

The winners were announced at Open Mic TGIT. The winning band had the privilege of giving an encore performance at the Male Auction on Friday night. Those who missed Monday's or Thursday's announcement were pleasantly surprised to see an encore of the winning performance Friday at the Male Auction.
