The University News had the opportunity to conduct an interview with James Mackenzie, winner of the "Student Employee of the Year" award. Here is the interview with this extraordinary student worker, who was nominated by supervisor Brooke Dailey (Senior Admissions Counselor) for being UD's "best student caller to prospective students" and for "single-handedly revamping the student-run website, UD Underground."

UN: What do you think about receiving this award?
JM: It is really cool.

UN: How long have you been working here at the Admissions Office?
JM: I am senior and this is my second year working in Admissions.

UN: What is your job?
JM: I have two kinds of jobs. As a Marketing Intern, I help Lucas Sifuentes recruit students by serving as a student contact. I talk to students about my reaction to the Core, the Rome Program and life at UD. My second job is to manage the website www.udunderground.com. I organize the videos of campus events and blogs about student life that show prospective students our quirky character.

UN: What do you most like about your job?
JM: Helping UD function over the past two years as a student worker is very fulfilling.

UN: What are your future plans?
JM: I want to eventually go to film school and pursue directing and producing of movies.

UN: What else are you involved in?
JM: I am directing a Senior Studio, "The Bespoke Overcoat," this semester and helping with the sound designing for three other studios. The studios are free and open to all UD students. I invite students to come out to our studio on April 23.

James Mackenzie, who works twenty hours a week, along with working on his studio earns praise as a diligent and excellent student worker. Brooke Dailey, Mackenzie's supervisor, stated in her nomination, "To say that [James] is irreplaceable is an understatement."

Many other outstanding student employees were nominated for this award, and are listed below:
