Todd Whitthorne, broadcaster and Emmy Award winner, will come to the University of Dallas to speak to students about the basics of nutritional supplements. Whitthornes lecture is to occur on Thursday, April 23, 7 p.m.

If you're confused about the claims of wonders regarding supplements, or have debated on whether or not to spend your money on the latest product that will help you lose weight, then Todd Whitthorne can help you find the answers.

On Thursday, April 23 at 7 p.m., Whitthorne will be presenting, "The ABCs of Nutritional Supplements," which destroys many of the myths and uncovers many of the mysteries that surround the unregulated supplement industry.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise physiology, Whitthorne began a broadcasting career that led him from Washington, D.C. to Phoenix then to Dallas, where he won both an Emmy and Katie Award as morning show host on "Good Morning Texas."

In 2000, he followed his love of fitness and nutrition as he joined Dr. Kenneth Cooper's team at Dallas' world-renowned Cooper Aerobics Center and became president and chief executive of Cooper Concepts. For eight years he and Cooper co-hosted the nationally syndicated "Healthy Living" radio show. During that time, he has been recognized as one of the nation's leading authorities on health and wellness, and emphasizes that achieving optimal health is not nearly as hard to achieve as most people think.

He travels around the country speaking to groups such as Costco, MADD, HEB Grocers, Capital One and the Salvation Army, and numerous schools and non-profit organizations.

Since 2005, Whitthorne has served as television host for the Dallas White Rock Marathon and the Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot.

Whitthorne is also active in promoting fitness in the community. He serves as chairman of the Our Kids' Health Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to reducing childhood obesity in Texas. He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and IAWHP (International Association for Worksite Health Promotion), and serves on the Board of Directors of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Taskforce.
