Last weekend marked the halfway point for the Lady Crusaders basketball season. Currently, the team stands at 8-10 after a tough loss against East Texas Baptist University in Marshall on Saturday.
Junior forward Cara Sczepanski continued her scoring streak, leading the team with 20 points. Fellow junior Bethany Roessler played a great all-around game as the guard posted eight points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Overall, the team shot for a rock-solid 38 percent from the field but had no answers on defense, falling 85-67.
Though the team has lost its last two games heading into the second half, UD has shown that it possesses the mental stamina to fight back. "When things get difficult, that is not the time to hang it up. That is when you dig in and work even harder," said head coach Jennifer Fleming.
The Lady Crusaders will be traveling this week to Sherman to take on Austin College, followed by a Super Bowl Sunday home game to take on Colorado College.
